About

Hi there! My name is Robyn Womack, and I’m a twenty-something pixie/pint-sized zoology fanatic and PhD student based in Glasgow, UK. I research the circadian clocks of birds – specifically how body clocks interact with features of the environment, such as light pollution and the presence of parasitic diseases.

Although I work on birds and clock biology, I have a broad interest in everything zoological – from paleontology to parasitology! Growing up on the sunny Isle of Wight, also known as the Dinosaur Isle, it makes sense that I was/am particularly keen on dinosaurs. I even took one with me on the first day of school…

Anyway… this blog, Pixie Zoologist, is my little corner of the internet, which I dedicate to celebrating the huge diversity of animal life on Earth. Here, I will talk about various cute and cuddly animals, and also the not-so-cute and cuddly, in a post series called Species Spotlight. I occasionally might also ramble on about my own birdy research during PhD Diaries posts.

If you have any comments, questions or suggestions then please don’t hesitate to contact me, via email, Twitter or Instagram. I would love to hear from you!

I really hope that you enjoy the blog.

— Robyn
